Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions candidates and employers ask most often about Energy Jobs Board.
About these questions
Energy Jobs Board is a new UK job board for the energy sector. Below you will find straightforward answers about how the board works, split into questions for candidates and questions for employers and recruitment agencies. The first six cover finding work, privacy and your account; the last six cover advertising, checks, payment and candidate search.
If you are looking for work, the candidate guide goes into more detail on profiles, CVs and privacy settings. If you are hiring, our page on how to post a job walks through each step from registration to receiving applications.
Pricing questions are covered in more detail alongside our advertising packages, and the way we handle candidate data is set out in full in our privacy policy. We keep these answers up to date as the board develops. If your question is not covered here, send it to us through the contact form and we will reply by your preferred method.
Questions and answers
Does it cost anything to use Energy Jobs Board as a candidate?
No. Creating a profile, uploading your CV, applying for jobs, saving jobs and viewing your application history are free for candidates.
What types of energy jobs are listed?
UK roles across ten sectors: offshore wind, renewable energy, oil and gas, nuclear, power and utilities, hydrogen and carbon capture, energy storage and EV charging, heat and energy efficiency, domestic energy sales and business energy sales. You can filter by location, salary, employment type and on-site, hybrid or remote working.
Can employers see my profile without my permission?
No. Profiles are hidden by default. You choose whether verified employers can find you, and even then your contact details and CV are only visible to approved employers with database access.
How will I know who has downloaded my CV?
Every CV download is logged, and you can see which companies have accessed your CV from your account.
Why can I not apply for a job I found?
Adverts run for 30 days or until the employer's closing date. Expired and closed adverts stop accepting applications, so the role is no longer open.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account and your data whenever you choose. Employers who downloaded your CV before then hold their own copy, and you can contact them directly to ask them to delete it.
How do I post a job?
Register as an employer, complete your company profile and submit your advert. Our team checks it, and once approved it goes live for 30 days. Applications arrive in your dashboard and by email.
Are adverts checked before they go live?
Yes. Every advert is reviewed by our team before it is published, to make sure it is a genuine UK energy vacancy with a clear title, location and description.
How long does a job advert stay live?
Adverts run for 30 days, or until the closing date you set. After that they stop accepting applications.
How do I pay for job adverts?
During launch, you choose a package, we confirm your order and send an invoice, and credits are added to your dashboard. Online card payment is coming later.
Who can search the candidate database?
Approved employers and recruitment agencies with a candidate database access package. They can only see candidates who have chosen to be visible, and every CV download is logged.
What is the founding employer programme?
A launch offer that lets a small number of selected employers and agencies advertise free using complimentary job credits for a set period. Places are by application or invitation, not automatic.
