How advertising works

  1. Register as an employer. Create your account on the employer registration page. Specialist recruitment agencies register in the same way.
  2. Complete your company profile. Add a short description of your organisation, the sectors you work in and where you operate. Candidates often read this before they apply, so a clear profile helps.
  3. Submit your advert. Enter the job title, location, salary or day rate, employment type (permanent, contract or temporary), whether the role is on-site, hybrid or remote, and a closing date if you have one.
  4. We check it. Our team reviews every advert before it is published. If something needs changing, we tell you what and why.
  5. Your advert goes live for 30 days. It appears in job search results until the 30 days end or your closing date passes.
  6. Applications arrive in your dashboard and by email. You can review each candidate's details in one place, and you get an email when a new application comes in.

What makes a good energy job advert

Candidates filter by salary, location, sector, employment type and working pattern. Adverts that answer those questions up front get more relevant applications and fewer wasted ones.

Show the salary or day rate

Energy candidates compare packages carefully, especially for contract and rotational work. Give a salary range or day rate, and mention overtime, allowances, travel or rotation terms where they apply. Adverts without pay information are easy to skip.

Be precise about location and working pattern

Name the site, port, depot or office, not just the region. Say whether the role is on-site, hybrid or remote, and give the rotation or shift pattern for offshore, site-based or standby work.

List the certificates you need

Separate essential from desirable. If the role needs GWO Basic Safety Training, OPITO offshore survival training, an offshore medical, CompEx, an HV authorisation, security clearance or a driving licence, say so clearly. If you will fund missing training for the right person, say that too, because it widens your pool.

Describe the work, not just the company

Explain what a normal week involves: the plant, equipment or systems, the team size, who the role reports to and how much travel is expected. Specific detail helps experienced people judge whether the job fits.

Searching the candidate database

Advertising brings applications to you. If you also want to approach people directly, approved employers can add candidate database access. Only candidates who have chosen to be visible to verified employers appear, and every CV download is logged. See how candidate search works before you order.

Founding employer places

While the board launches, a small number of selected employers and agencies can advertise free using complimentary job credits. Places are by application or invitation. Find out what is involved and how to apply on our founding employers page.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of jobs can I advertise?

Genuine UK vacancies in the energy sector, including offshore wind, renewables, oil and gas, nuclear, power and utilities, hydrogen and carbon capture, energy storage and EV charging, and heat and energy efficiency. Roles can be permanent, contract or temporary, and on-site, hybrid or remote.

Can recruitment agencies post adverts?

Yes. Specialist recruitment agencies can register, complete a company profile and advertise roles they are recruiting for. Please make it clear in the advert that you are recruiting on behalf of a client.

How long does it take for an advert to go live?

Every advert is checked by our team before it is published. Adverts with a clear title, location, pay and description are the quickest to approve. If we need anything changed, we will contact you.

What happens when my advert expires?

Adverts run for 30 days or until your closing date. Once an advert has expired or closed it stops accepting applications. If you are still recruiting, you can post the role again using another credit.
